Course Description: 

The H2S Intensive Training is a comprehensive program designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to comprehend the hazards and controls associated with working in potential H2S environments. It also offers an overview of the emergency response competency requirements and provides detailed information about the training necessary for individuals working in potential H2S environments. Through a combination of theoretical instruction, practical exercises, and simulated scenarios, participants will learn how to recognize, assess, and mitigate H2S-related risks effectively. 

 

Target Audience: 

  • Supervisors of work or operatives that have to enter work spaces or direct tasks in spaces with risk of spontaneous generation 
  • Fugitive emissions 
  • Entrainment or handling of sulphydric acid (H2S) 

 

Learning Objectives:  

  • Identify hazardous effects of H2S and analyze gas detection, protection system. 
  • Accurate use of detectors 
  • Mastering the donning and doffing of EEBA/SCBA/SAR 
  • Understanding the buddy system 
  • Implementing emergency escape routes and rescue methods 
  • Extensive knowledge of utilizing equipment and tools during an emergency. 
  • Proper documentation of escape routes within an H2S environment in case of any emergency incident. 
  • Practical Exercise: Usage of SCBA equipment, Emergency Response Plan and First Aid protocols 

Certificate: 

Upon successful completion of the course, learners receive Alam AlSahara H2S Intensive course completion certificate, valid for two years.

Type of Assessment: 

Multiple Choice and Practical Tests 

 

Assessment Requirement 

Participants are required to achieve 100% attendance. Assessment for this course consists of a written post‑test and a practical skills test covering H2S response and Breathing Apparatus use. The minimum passing score for the theory post‑test is 75%, and the minimum passing score for the practical assessment is 80%. The final course result is based on a combination of theory and practical scores, and participants must achieve a final score of at least 75% and be competent in the practical assessment to be certified.
